The emergency ward is one of the several units of the SDA hospital located on the ground floor area of the main building. It’s a three-bed capacity that is staffed 24hours a day, 7 days a week and provide initial treatment for a broad spectrum of illness and injuries, some of which may be life- threatening and requires immediate attention to clients. It sees scheduled, unscheduled (on daily bases and referral (most often) clients. Averagely, the unit sees fifty to hundred clients weekly.
Common cases seen are trauma, medical emergencies such as hypertensive urgencies, diabetic emergencies, respiratory emergencies. Triage system is used to prioritize treatment for client. The unit also provide out-patient injection administrations and wound dressings. In contributing to achieving optimal health, the unit seeks to provide holistic healing through saving of lives, preventing complications and aiding recovery to individuals, families, and households.

The unit runs morning, afternoon, and night shift system by various cadre of professional (doctors, physician assistants, nurses, paramedics, and orderlies).
There are twelve nurses manning the unit made up of five registered general nurses, one psychiatric nurse, and six nurse assistants (enrolled nurses) all at various ranks. These staff include:

Two nurses run each shift averagely, assisted by supporting staff (rotation nurses, students, volunteers) if any.
The unit is headed by Joseph Ofori Boahen Blay (Senior Nursing Officer/RGN) with Bachelor of science in Nursing.
