Our History

Nagel memorial Adventist hospital started its operations on the 7th March 1999 as a clinic after a campaign organized in the western region led by Pastor Dr. Lawrence Ewoo.

It started as a small clinic to attend to outpatients at the then premises of Takoradi Central Church, currently New life SDA Church.

The hospital is a member of the Ghana Adventist Health Services (GAHS) and also part of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG).

Through the hard work of staff and the Grace of God, the facility has seen enormous growth and in 2015, it was accredited as a hospital with both HeFRA and National Health Insurance Authority. The facility uses Professionalism, integrity, team work, patient-centeredness and respect for life as its main core values.

In September 2018, the hospital acquired a new ultramodern infrastructure to provide Specialized services like ENT, Dentistry Optical services etc.

Nagel is owned by the South-West Ghana Conference of the SDA church in Western Region. Pastor Yaw Kwakye Adeefe is the Board president of Nagel, Dr. Edward Donkoh is the Secretary to the facility.

Mission Statement: To promote, restore and maintain physical, mental, social and spiritual health of individuals, families and households.

The hospital now has a total staff number of 262 from a lowly level of 8 when it began. From the Continuous Quality improvement Award Scheme, Nagel was awarded the as the 1st prize in July 2022 for being a low volume site with consistent PrEP invitation of about 25 cases per quarter and PrEP continuity of 23%.

In July 2022, Nagel was awarded for the 3rd prize by the Continuous Quality Improvement Award body for being a low volume site with high yield. Identified an average of 15 cases per quarter in the past 4 quarters. An overall composite score of 23 points.
